Hendricks County (W of Indy)

Hendricks County, Indiana, located northwest of Indianapolis, is the second fastest growing county in the state behind Hamilton County. Hendricks County is home to more than 145,000 residents and is best known for its drag raceway, its many hiking and biking trails and its wineries. The County includes the cities of Danville (the county seat), Avon, Brownsburg and Plainfield.

Residents of Hendricks County, Indiana send their children to one of several public-school districts in the county. These include the Plainfield Community School Corporation, the Brownsburg Community School Corporation, the Danville School Corporation and the Avon Community School Corporation. There is plenty to see and do in Hendricks County. Local attractions include Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, one of the premier drag race tracks in the world; the Hendricks County Historical Museum and several wineries.

The county also hosts a number of special events throughout the year, including the NHRA Chevrolet Performance Nationals, the Hendricks County Rib-off and the seasonal farmers’ market in Danville.

Shopping enthusiasts will enjoy scouring the many art galleries and independent retailers in downtown Danville as well as touring the Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail.

Hendricks County residents have no reason to go hungry. The area is filled with delicious restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. Local favorites include Flap Jacks in Brownsburg, the Mayberry Cafe in Danville and Perillo’s Pizza in North Salem.
